Mission Statement of the Dominican Rea Literacy Corporation

Responding to a crucial societal need, DePorres P.L.A.C.E., Inc., a member of the Dominican Rea Literacy Corporation, exists to empower adults by providing basic literacy and life skills through individualized tutoring in environments that respect and reverence individuals. We enable learners to transform their lives by acquiring skills to become successful parents, productive workers and responsible citizens.

This mutual collaboration in adult literacy is a contemporary expression of the Adrian Dominican Sisters' commitment to education.

DePorres P.L.A.C.E. is now a member of the Dominican Rea Literacy Corporation, which includes six literacy centers sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters. The five other centers are: Dominican Literacy Center and the Siena Literacy Center, Detroit, MI; The Aquinas Literacy Center, Chicago, IL; N.E.W. Life Literacy Center, Flint, MI; Adrian Rea Literacy Center, Adrian, MI.
